Course Details

Overview: This beginners-intermediate private class will offer students a hands-on approach to acrylic painting. In this studio-intensive class, students will work on a project which will be underpinned by colour theory, mixing paints, composition, and subject matter, guided by the artist. Classes on offer include landscape, abstraction, and still life. Students are encouraged to experiment with new approaches, building upon their existing skill set. Beginners through to those with previous experience are welcome. For group sessions please enquire. Still Life: In this private art class, Students will develop a series of still-life compositions, learning to draw and paint from life. In this class, students create dynamic artworks, with a central focus on colour theory, mark making, palette creation, the illusion of space, and composition. Students will move through the drawing process before creating a final studio painting. Materials - The artist will provide materials for one-off classes including brushes, paint, canvas and an easel. Still life classes also include fresh flowers and a selection of props. For ongoing classes, please purchase the below materials list. - A4 sketch book (optional) - 1 x 4B pencil - 1 packet of willow charcoal (optional) - Eraser hard - Sharpener - 1 larger canvas board or stretch canvas (approx. 60 x 80cm) - Flat wood or plastic artist palette, or disposable palette (without ridges or sections). - Palette knife - Old rags - Brushes – synthetic brushes only - Art Basic brand is recommended - 3 flat brushes in sizes approximately 20mm, 15mm and 10mm wide - 3 filbert or bright brushes in sizes that are approximately 15mm, 10mm and 5mm Paints Acrylic (Matisse Structure/A2 recommended) - Titanium White - Ultramarine Blue - Cerulean/Phthalo Blue - Yellow Ochre - Burnt umber - Cadmium Yellow (light/medium) - Cadmium Red - Alizarin Crimson - Magenta Terms and Conditions: There are no transfers, credits, refunds or make up sessions for cancellations within 48 hours of a class. If you choose to withdraw from a class before its commencement, you may transfer to another private session (subject to availability) to be used within 12 months of the date payment was received. No refunds for classes will be issued. There are no transfers or credits if you withdraw or cancel on the day of the private class or once the course or class has commenced.
